Puro Hotel Gdansk
Situated on the famous Granary Island in the heart of Gdansk, a city on the Baltic coast with a rich industrial heritage, Puro Hotel celebrates the old shipyard and grain warehouses of the city’s fascinating past.
Twenty Assembly collaborated with interior design studio DeSallesFlint to design and direct the internal wayfinding and signage systems for the hotel.
The design direction for this wayfinding signage was to mirror the interior direction and embrace the use of industrial inspired materials. Rich timbers, Corten and cut steels were paired with a bespoke set of typographic numbers to evoke the heritage of stencil type from the manufacturing era. This was used alongside a simple, humanist san-serif to focus on legibility of the dual language signage systems. Application was seen to cut and backlit materials, mounted signage and vinyl application.
